APC National Vice Chairman Extols Tinubu Over IMPORT Duty, Vat Waivers For CNG, Electric Vehicles
The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s approval of import duty and Value Added Tax (VAT) exemptions on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles, electric vehicles, tricycles and related clean-energy equipment.
Describing the policy as a transformative milestone in the administration’s economic reform agenda, Arodiogbu noted that the waiver is a direct intervention aimed at easing the transportation burden on Nigerians while accelerating the transition to cheaper, cleaner, and more sustainable energy sources.
The APC chieftain specifically highlighted the immense economic advantages the policy holds for Ndigbo, asserting that the South-East stands to be one of the greatest beneficiaries of the initiative.
According to Arodiogbu, the region’s heavy reliance on commercial transportation, intra-city tricycles (Keke), and heavy-duty logistics for its massive commercial hubs makes the VAT and duty exemptions a timely economic relief. He noted that transporters, traders, and artisans in the region will witness a significant reduction in operational costs, thereby boosting trade and overall economic productivity.
“This is a visionary policy that strikes at the heart of our current economic challenges. By removing the financial barriers to acquiring CNG conversion kits, electric vehicles, and tricycles, President Tinubu has effectively lowered the cost of doing business and commuting,” Arodiogbu stated.
“For Ndigbo, who are predominantly enterprising and deeply involved in commerce and transportation, this is a game-changer. It will drastically reduce the overhead costs for our traders, make public transportation more affordable for the masses, and open up new lucrative value chains in the CNG and green energy sectors for our youths and investors.”
While extolling the President’s proactive governance style, the APC South-East Vice Chairman used the occasion to call on Nigerians, particularly constituents of the region, to rally behind the Tinubu administration. He urged for continuous support and patience, assuring that the current economic reforms, though initially challenging, are designed to yield enduring prosperity.
“We must recognize a government that listens and takes actionable steps to mitigate the impact of global economic realities. I call on all Nigerians, especially Ndigbo, to continue to support President Tinubu. The fruits of these reforms are beginning to manifest, and with our collective patience and backing, we will build a stronger, more self-reliant nation,” he added.
Arodiogbu further reiterated the commitment of the APC leadership in the South-East to aligning with the Federal Government’s developmental strides, promising to ensure that the benefits of the new policy are adequately sensitized and maximized at the grassroots level.
