APC Will Defeat Adeleke in 2026 Osun Governorship Election — National Chairman
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the party will reclaim Osun State in the 2026 governorship election, insisting that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s popularity alone will not guarantee him victory at the polls.
Speaking on the party’s chances ahead of the election, Yilwatda said voters would ultimately assess candidates based on their performance, competence, and the credibility of the political parties they represent, rather than public perception or social media popularity.
The APC national chairman maintained that elections are won through the ballot box and not by popularity alone, stressing that the party is committed to strengthening its grassroots structures across Osun State in preparation for the governorship poll.
He noted that the APC is focused on presenting a candidate capable of earning the confidence and support of the people, expressing optimism that the party is well-positioned to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and return to power in the state.
Yilwatda also dismissed claims that the APC is concerned about Governor Adeleke’s growing political profile, insisting that the party remains confident of emerging victorious when Osun voters head to the polls in the 2026 governorship election.
His remarks come as political activities continue to gather momentum across Osun State ahead of the highly anticipated governorship contest.
