Ukwa 2027 Race:INEC Publishes Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie Nwogu as APC Candidate for Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the name of Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie Nwogu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming general election.

The publication, which was made public on Saturday, August 1, 2026, appeared on INEC’s notice board and online portal in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, following the conclusion of party primaries and the submission of candidates’ names by political parties. The development also signals the official commencement of electioneering campaigns as outlined in the Commission’s 2026 election timetable.

With the publication, Chief Nwogu has been formally recognized by INEC as the APC flag bearer for the House of Representatives seat representing Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency, paving the way for his participation in the forthcoming polls.

The announcement has reportedly sparked celebrations among APC supporters and many residents across Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government Areas, with party faithful describing the development as a victory for equity, justice, and experienced leadership. They expressed optimism that Nwogu’s candidature would strengthen the party’s chances in the constituency.

Reacting to the publication, Chief Samuel Okezie Nwogu expressed gratitude to God, the leadership of the APC, and the people of Ukwa for the confidence reposed in him. He reaffirmed his commitment to running an issue-based campaign centred on job creation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, quality representation, and improved welfare for constituents.

“I am deeply grateful to God, the leadership of our great party, and the good people of Ukwa for this confidence. I remain committed to offering purposeful and people-oriented representation that will attract meaningful development to our federal constituency,” he said.

The APC candidate also appealed to party members, supporters, and other well-meaning stakeholders across the constituency to unite behind his ambition, stressing that collective effort would be essential in achieving victory at the polls.

“This is a journey for all of us. I call on every APC member and every lover of progress in Ukwa to join hands with me as we work together to reposition our federal constituency for sustainable growth and development,” Nwogu added.

Political observers believe that with INEC’s official publication of candidates’ names, campaign activities are expected to intensify across the 20 electoral wards of the Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency as candidates engage voters and present their manifestos ahead of the election.
