The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the name of Chief Barr. Samuel Okezie Nwogu as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming general election.

The publication, which was made public on Saturday, August 1, 2026, appeared on INEC’s notice board and online portal in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, following the conclusion of party primaries and the submission of candidates’ names by political parties. The development also signals the official commencement of electioneering campaigns as outlined in the Commission’s 2026 election timetable.

With the publication, Chief Nwogu has been formally recognized by INEC as the APC flag bearer for the House of Representatives seat representing Ukwa East and Ukwa West Federal Constituency, paving the way for his participation in the forthcoming polls.

The announcement has reportedly sparked celebrations among APC supporters and many residents across Ukwa East and Ukwa West Local Government Areas, with party faithful describing the development as a victory for equity, justice, and experienced leadership.
