Woman allegedly stabs husband to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Abia State.

A woman identified as Innocent Serah has allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday night, throwing residents of the community into shock and confusion.

Although the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, sources in the community said Nwaọjị was allegedly attacked while he was asleep.

A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with journalists on Sunday.

Amaraizu said the couple got married in December 2025 and had been together for barely eight months before the incident.

“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident,” he said.

According to him, the woman has since been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the remains of the deceased have been deposited at a morgue.

When contacted, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, said she would get back to journalists. However, an official statement from the police was still being awaited at the time of filing this report.

The incident comes months after a similar case was reported in Umuahia, where the Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a woman accused of stabbing her husband, an Immigration officer, to death.

The February 2026 incident was reportedly linked to allegations of infidelity. The then Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Danladi Isa, said the suspect was arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department for interrogation over the alleged murder.

Police authorities are expected to provide further details on the latest incident as investigations continue.
