Troops Rescue 33 Kidnapped Passengers in Zamfara
Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 33 passengers who were allegedly kidnapped by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The rescue operation followed credible information received on August 8 about the abduction of commuters travelling through the Magazu area of Tsafe.
The troops, working with Nigeria Police Force personnel deployed in Tsafe, moved to the area and engaged the terrorists as they were reportedly taking the victims to an unknown destination.
The troops’ response forced the terrorists to abandon the passengers and flee into nearby bushes. All 33 victims were rescued safely without any casualties, while efforts continued to track the fleeing attackers.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their prompt response and professionalism, reaffirming the military’s commitment to protecting citizens and securing major transportation routes across the North-West.
