Hon. Ikwechegh Intervenes In Aba Power Crisis, Secures Restoration Assurance By Weekend
In response to the persistent electrical outage affecting the Aba ring-fenced area for nearly three weeks, Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh(Onyeocha N’Aba), Member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, has engaged the leadership of Aba Power Limited / Geometric Power Limited.
Following high-level discussions with the Group Managing Director, Prof. Barth Nnaji, the legislator has secured a firm commitment that power supply will be fully restored across the constituency between now and the weekend.
Prompted by an influx of grievances from constituents whose livelihoods and industrial productivity depend heavily on consistent electricity, Hon. Ikwechegh initiated direct dialogue with utility leadership to mitigate the severe economic hardship and inflated operational costs caused by the prolonged blackout.
During the consultation, Prof. Nnaji clarified that the underlying infrastructure remains structurally sound and fully operational. He identified the primary catalyst for the outage as acute shortages and unreliability within the regional gas supply chain.
Prof. Nnaji confirmed that the crucial breakthrough in securing a reliable gas supply framework is the direct result of coordinated synergy between the Federal Government and the proactive administrative intervention of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti. Governor Otti has robustly intervened to ensure that this extended blackout is decisively addressed and that such power failures become a permanent thing of the past for the people of Aba.
This latest intervention builds upon Hon. Ikwechegh’s ongoing legislative and executive engagements with the Presidency and key federal power sector stakeholders, aimed at establishing a permanent, sustainable energy framework for the industrious commercial hub of Aba.
