The Summit, with the theme _“The Place of Ikwuano/Umuahia Women in The Emerging Political Scenario in Abia Central Senatorial District,”_ was described as the largest gathering of women leaders in Abia Central in recent times.
Below is the full details of their resolutions:
_COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE IKWUANO/UMUAHIA WOMEN LEADERS SUMMIT HELD AT JUBILEE ARENA, UMUAHIA ON 6TH OCTOBER, 2026_
_PREAMBLE:_
We, the Women Leaders under the aegis of Ikwuano/Umuahia Women Community Leaders, comprising over 1000 women leaders, grassroots mobilizers, market women associations, faith-based organizations, cooperative societies, community development unions and clan heads drawn from Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, converged in a historic and well-attended summit at the prestigious Jubilee Arena, Umuahia.
The summit was convened to appraise the political developments in Abia Central, review the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government on women and families, and to take a united position on the future of Abia Central ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The summit was coordinated by Hon. Lady Chinyere Ehilegbu, Coordinator of the Association, while the purpose of the summit was formally declared by former Head of Service of Abia State, Lady Joy Maduka. Hon. Chidi Nwosu, Director-General of the Emeka Atuma for Senate Campaign Organization, served as Chairman of the occasion.

The summit witnessed an impressive turnout of political leaders, candidates and critical stakeholders including:
1. Rep. Emeka Atuma – APC Senatorial Candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District
2. Chief Eric Opah – APC Governorship Candidate for Abia State
3. Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji – APC Candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency
4. Hon. Chika Ishionwu – APC Candidate for Ikwuano State House of Assembly
5. Members of the Atuma Campaign Council and APC Stakeholders

_RESOLUTIONS:_
After robust, frank and exhaustive deliberations on the state of the nation, the state and the senatorial district, the summit unanimously resolved as follows:
_1. VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU, GCFR:_
The summit, having critically appraised the bold, courageous and people-oriented reforms of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, hereby passes a total and unflinching vote of confidence on Mr. President.
We specifically commend his Renewed Hope Agenda, his unprecedented commitment to women empowerment and inclusion in governance, the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), the Student Loan Scheme, agricultural support initiatives, fuel subsidy reinvestment in infrastructure, youth empowerment programmes and deliberate efforts at economic stabilization and national unity.
We, the Ikwuano/Umuahia Women, hereby declare that we stand solidly with Mr. President and assure him of 100% grassroots mobilization, door-to-door campaign and massive votes in Abia Central for his re-election in 2027. Abia Central women are for Asiwaju!
_2. UNANIMOUS ENDORSEMENT OF REP. EMEKA ATUMA AS SOLE CANDIDATE FOR ABIA CENTRAL SENATE 2027:_
In our quest for quality representation, capacity, experience and humane leadership, the summit after careful scrutiny and voice vote unanimously adopts and endorses Rep. Emeka Atuma as the sole and consensus candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District in 2027.
Our endorsement is based on his verifiable and unmatched track record of service:
_a) Legislative Reforms (2003-2007):_ As member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Environment and Ecological Matters, he championed and sponsored the two principal Acts that led to the establishment of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) and the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) – two agencies that today protect our environment.
_b) Infrastructure and Human Capital Record in Office (2003-2007):_ Records associated with his tenure include execution of 72 water projects, erosion-control interventions, rural electrification projects, construction of roads with street lights, construction and renovation of conducive classroom blocks, scholarships and youth employment initiatives. He was known for his uncommon accessibility, attending community events across the six LGAs of Abia Central.
After an independent assessment of Rep. Emeka Atuma’s overwhelming performance in just 4 years in the Federal House of Representatives in 2003, the Ohuhu Council of Traditional Rulers conferred on him the prestigious chieftaincy title as Ihie-Ukwu 1 of Ohuhu Clan, in recognition of his outstanding service and contributions to community development.
_c) 19 Years After Office – Continuity of Service:_ Long after leaving the House in 2007, his imprint has continued to deepen through personal and private interventions without holding any public office:
– Construction of 1.6km Ntalakwu–Amangwu Road executed entirely with private funds
– Full rehabilitation of Ndoro–Ntalakwu Road
– Construction of Umuigwu–Ugbaebila Ring Road
– Construction of Nnono–Olori Court Ring Road
– Renovation of 5-Classroom Block at Community Secondary School
– Empowerment of over 5,000 women and youths with cash grants, startup support, motorcycles, vehicles and starter packs
– Facilitation of gainful and sustainable federal employment for our teeming youths
We believe that if he could do this much out of office for 19 years, he will do much more as Senator in the same progressive party with the President.
_3. ENDORSEMENT OF OTHER APC CANDIDATES:_
The summit further unanimously endorses Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Eric Opah for Governor of Abia State, and Hon. Chika Ishionwu for Ikwuano State House of Assembly, based on their capacity, credibility, manifesto and alignment with progressive ideals.
The women also reaffirmed their earlier position on political equity and zoning: That the Ngwa bloc of Abia Central should produce the next Governor while Ikwuano/Umuahia retains the Senate seat, and that it is the turn of Ibeku community to produce the next House of Representatives member in line with fairness.
_FINAL RESOLUTION:_
We, the women of Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, have chosen Hope. We have chosen President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, Rep. Emeka Atuma for Abia Central Senate, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency and Chief Eric Opah for Governor of Abia State.
_APPRECIATION AND CONCLUSION:_
We express our profound gratitude to over 1000 women leaders, clan heads, market women, faith-based groups, youth leaders, APC stakeholders and dignitaries whose massive turnout, commitment and resilience made this summit a resounding success.
Your unity, strength and motherly voice have clearly demonstrated that Ikwuano/Umuahia women are ready, resolute, organized and unstoppable in shaping the emerging political equation of Abia Central.
