Abia Govt Approves N1m Each for 31 Returnees from South Africa.

The Abia State Government has approved the immediate disbursement of N1 million each to 31 verified indigenes of the state who recently returned from South Africa.

The approval is intended to provide immediate relief and serve as interim support for the returnees, while assuring them that the state government has not abandoned them.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the government is currently conducting comprehensive profiling of the returnees to assess their individual circumstances and socio-economic needs.

The exercise is expected to enable the government to develop appropriate interventions for their sustainable reintegration and ensure that they receive necessary social protection and support tailored to their circumstances.

The gesture, according to the government, reflects Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of vulnerable residents of Abia State, particularly those facing difficult circumstances.

The government said the intervention was also aimed at giving the returnees an opportunity to recover, rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.

It added that since assuming office, Governor Otti has prioritised policies and programmes focused on protecting the wellbeing and dignity of citizens, especially those experiencing hardship.

The Abia State Government further reiterated that the state remains home to all its sons and daughters, assuring residents that no Abian will be left behind, regardless of their location or circumstances.
