The Defence Minister is clearly enjoying his stay in Abia – By Comrade Miracle Chukwunenye
General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, has been in Abia for the past few days.
For the past three days, he has been making official appearances and attending security-related engagements across the state.
From Wednesday, when he attended the 60th Memorial Anniversary of Aguiyi-Ironsi, he stayed back until Thursday for the First South-East Security Summit held in Abia. Then yesterday, he was also present at the official handover ceremony of the first-ever Nigerian Air Force Administrative Complex in Abia.
Immediately after that programme, he headed straight to the Umuahia Township Stadium to officially kick off the Crossover Basketball Camp, organised by the Crossover Foundation and sponsored by the Abia State Government.
The Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Ananaba accompanied him there, and as you can see from the pictures, he even displayed some basketball moves. This our Defence Minister is so liberal and full of energy. I admire the man so much.
The most interesting part is that he wore different Igbo attires and outfits for each day and every occasion.
This is the kind of body language that sends a signal of national unity.
But wait a minute, do you really think the Honourable Minister of Defence would be this relaxed and cordial in Abia if the President was not pleased with the developments in the state? I don’t think so.
What you see is simply a signal that the President is happy that Abia is getting it right across different sectors.
He’s pleased that the resources made available following the removal of fuel subsidy are being put to good use, especially in Abia.
That’s why the spotlight is here. That’s why all eyes are on Abia, Abia is the new bride!
Thank you, Honourable Minister of Defence, for these convivial moments you’re sharing with us in Abia. Thank you for the collaboration and support. Kindly extend our regards to the President.
Tell him that Abians are grateful to have not just a performing Governor, but a Governor who believes that political differences should never stand in the way of collaboration between the Federal and State Governments, regardless of whatever political interests may arise.
The result of that collaboration is what we are enjoying in Abia today.
Indeed, Abia struck gold this time.
