The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) into a leading institution for military and civilian capacity development. The assurance was given by the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), during a meeting with the university’s Governing Council at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The minister said the government would work closely with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to fully utilise the university’s 30% admission quota reserved for military personnel. According to him, the initiative is aimed at equipping security personnel with the technical and operational skills needed to tackle emerging security threats while also promoting a highly skilled workforce in the digital era.

As part of the planned upgrade, the Federal Government also pledged to address key infrastructural needs at the university, including the construction of a Centre for Military Performance Management, which is expected to be the first of its kind in Africa. The university’s Pro-Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd.), commended the minister for his commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence and educational sectors.
