Contenders and Pretenders: The Case of Ohuhu State Constituency – By Ejelonu Kingsley Nnadozie

As the 2027 elections draw closer, political activities are beginning to intensify across Ohuhu State Constituency, with contenders and pretenders emerging from different political camps.

However, the growing attention surrounding Hon. Barr. Anderson Kelechi Akaliro is a clear indication that he remains a formidable force in the constituency. Since the emergence of Ohuhu State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, his supporters believe that few representatives have matched his trajectory, visibility and connection with the people.

It is therefore understandable that his political opponents may be increasingly concerned about his growing acceptance. Rather than resorting to needless attacks and negative propaganda, however, the opposition should present their own records, ideas, programmes and vision for the people.

The 2027 election should be about performance, accountability, purposeful representation and the future of Ohuhu, not personal attacks.

The contenders may continue to emerge, and the pretenders may continue to make noise, but ultimately, the people of Ohuhu will have the final say at the ballot box.

For the supporters of Akaliro, the message remains unequivocal:

There is no vacancy in Ohuhu State Constituency come 2027.
